Try a little tenderness

If you want to get to woman’s heart and stay there then take this advice: TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS.
Honestly, girls are sooooo easy to please. We just want to be reminded why you love us sometimes! That isn’t too much to ask. This song speaks volumes, “You wanna squeeze her, don’t tease her, never leave her, hold her, grab her softly now, just try a little tenderness!”. That is all. Men sometimes make us out to be monsters. Sure some women are truly monsters but most of us just want love.

Here’s another tip for the men, just follow the 3 C’s: COMMUNICATION, CREATIVITY & COMMITMENT.

  • COMMUNICATION: You have heard it from the experts all the time, COMMUNICATION is key to a successful relationship and they weren’t kidding! Women want you to talk to them about your day and in return they want you to listen to their stories. Is that really too much to ask??? It’s not like they are asking you for a Burberry purse or a pink diamond. COMMUNICATION is also a great way to keep the trust going in a relationship. If you are up front about everything, your wife or girlfriend more likely will not think you are cheating on her. Overall, COMMUNICATION is a great way to stay on the same page!
  • CREATIVITY: You always hear these stories about how spouses cheat on each other because they were too bored with their relationship, well CREATIVITY is the solution to that problem. Think of it like ice cream; sure everyone loves vanilla but sometimes we want something more, something new like Cherry Garcia with gummy bears on a waffle cone dipped in chocolate and sprinkles. So if you know she is having a bad week at work, buy her some random flowers or write her a letter or buy her something or make a little dance routine for her or even serenade her!!! We love that stuff!!! It is something CREATIVE. Always go to the gym by yourself? Ask her to come with you! Does she always cook? Surprise her with her favorite cooked dinner! You don’t have to be good at it, we just like seeing the effort!!
  • COMMITMENT: Lastly is commitment. In general, just COMMIT yourself to the relationship. Do you love her??? Do you want this thing to work????? Then COMMIT!!! COMMIT to being there for her. COMMIT to making her smile. COMMIT to loving her unconditionally!!! THAT’S ALL WE WANT!!!

Brother, if you follow these 3 C’s you will keep your lady happy forever and from writing angry blogs about your relationship. And for the love of everything, TRY A LITTLE TENDERNESS!

This is my favorite version of this song! : ) (please no Chris Brown jokes) If anyone sang to me like this, I would marry them right there! My Mom also told me to find a man who can sing or dance because they are the happiest. lol

Be Nice to “Ugly” Girls

Bullying is a wide spread topic among schools and supposedly there are measures being taken to prevent it. Yet I still see headlines of 9-year-olds suiciding because they were being tormented for being too “fat” or “ugly”. I know from personal experience how it is to be bullied. People that meet me now don’t understand how DAISY PRADO could have been bullied! She is so opinionated and independent and happy! Well this is what I looked like starting from 4th grade until freshmen year of high school:

Me during my 5-year awkward stage.

That should explain why I was bullied. According to jr. high school kids, I wasn’t pretty enough. And after being told so often, I began to believe them. The only time “cute” boys would talk to me was to get some answers off my homework and I was too nice to say no. So I was “ugly” and a door mat. Very bad combo. Somehow I managed to keep my head up; maybe it was my Mother’s unconditional love or maybe my strong personality or maybe both!

After years of not feeling good enough and crying because I felt like an ogre, I finally bloomed. By “blooming” I mean I got braces, make-up, an established clothing style, a pair of tweezers, long luscious hair, along with boobs and a pronounced bottom. All of a sudden those guys that used to ask me for my homework answers, were asking me for my number. And so began my boy craze. I could not get enough of all this new found attention. Granted I wasn’t the most popular girl still but I was dating football players, which meant I was on top of my game! Or so I thought. Even though I knew in the back of my mind that these new “friends” were nothing but shallow strangers, I yearned for their attention. I yearned to be the “it” girl. I yearned to be in the “cool” kids crowd!

People think that only weak people can be bullied; that is a lie. I was always strong! I had been through a lot in my life but that never stopped me from being a excellent student and a good person. Yet I was still bullied. But I feel that being bullied made me stronger and more humble at the same time! And to be honest, I do get a little satisfaction knowing that I am on a scholarship in one of the best journalism schools in the world, learning to be a entertainment reporter while many of my bullies or “popular” girls are pregnant or growing a beer belly soaking up the “glory” days in my hometown.

Someday I hope to embark on a anti-bullying campaign because this needs to be recognized as a national issue. Helping the mental health of our country can prevent suicides or students going berserk and killing their classmates! I hope to make a difference about this!

All in all just remember to be nice to everyone you meet and don’t call that girl “ugly” because one day you might see her on TV! ; )

Zooey Deschanel and Rashida Jones

Me NOW. lol

Reasons as to why:

1) It’s my birthday month. Here is a meme of what I will be doing at midnight on my birthday:

2) Starbucks will bring out its seasonal drinks again! Pumpkin Spice and Salted Caramel Mocha!!!! 🙂

3) It will finally start cooling down…And by that I mean it will no longer be triple-digit heat everyday. A nice 99 degrees! Gotta love Arizona weather…

4) And because all my favorite shows are starting up again!!! (Look at the list below) = )

Summer reading? Nope Summer watching

I used to be the type that would read all summer long but now I am turned into a webisode junkie!!

Once Upon a Time

Modern Family

LA Complex

and last but certainly not least, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER!!

To0 bad almost all of seasons aren’t starting until this month!

I am more than excited for the last season of HIMYM!! : ) But I am also sad that one of the best shows of the decade is ending! It was like the modern day “Friends”. I want to see more shows like that and less shows like “Jersey Shore” (which by the way is said to be discontinued).

Any other shows that I should be watching?

how our culture has changed

After seeing this video about parents being terrified by some of the lyrics from a Beastie Boys’ song in 1986, I thought to myself  “These poor parents would crap themselves if they heard what Lil’ Wayne says in his songs”. It’s just astounding how much our culture has changed in the past 2 decades!!! Whatever did happen to good music? Or good rap? No offense rappers, but no one wants to hear you sexualize women or talk about how you dominate 3 of them every night. No one cares if you smoke pot and drink your kidney away everyday. And no one wants to hear how much money you make. DID YOU WANT A COOKIE FOR THESE DAILY ACCOMPLISHMENTS????? And since was it okay for you to talk like that?? I am pretty sure your grandmother would not tolerate that.

On a lighter note, I loved seeing the old Oprah! 🙂 She still has the same personality! Loving the ‘fro! lol 🙂

Happy Birthday Tupac =)

In honor of Tupac’s birthday which was on June 16th I have decided to put up some of my favorite quotes by him. He had so much left to give to the music industry and possibly the community. May he rest in peace. HAPPY BIRTHDAY! =)

Sometimes you feel like the darkness will remain; but it won’t!

Ain’t that the truth…smh

what a real father is

A real husband, abuelito, and father.

In honor of Father’s Day I wanted to do a post about my grandpa and what a real father is. It is not easy being a father. You have to be the provider, the strong one, the one that your little girl runs to when she needs protection. But being a father is not impossible. I don’t have any respect for those “men” that up and leave their family or never even take part in their family’s life. If you still need to grow up then don’t have children yet! I especially see this happen with young couples or teenage couples. They don’t know what to do so they leave like cowards.
My grandpa was such an admirable person. He worked so hard during his life to provide for his girls. He busted his butt working in the fields and always made sure his girls had everything they needed to succeed and be happy. He taught me that life is hard but it isn’t impossible. You just have to make the most out of what you got. =*) I always enjoyed sitting next to him and hearing his stories. I always got excited when I knew he was going to cook for us!! (He was a chef at one point so his carne asada was to die for =D) We always cracked jokes at inappropriate times and I think I get my harsh humor from him. lol =) And even though he has been gone for about 5 years now, every time I talk about him I still bawl my eyes out! That’s when you know you were a good person and you lived a good life! When I leave this world I want to be remembered with tears like my grandpa. I want to be remembered as a good person.
I know my grandpa is probably looking down right now and saying “Ay mija porque estas llorando?!” (My girl why are you crying?!). Because you left us too early Gramps!!! lol =/ I had so much left to learn!! I wanted you to dance the father-daughter dance at my quinceanera and at my wedding. But I know you are watching over us now. And guiding us. Don’t worry Gramps I will make you proud! =)

Moving on to something less morbid. lol I saw this on Celebuzz for Father’s Day and I thought it was so freakin cute!!!!!! =) I am already quite the FAN of Chris Hemsworth but this just blew it out of proportion!!! lol =) The way he is carrying his little girl with so much care and tenderness. Just seeing such a large and masculine man show so much attention to such a little beauty melts my heart away!!

And this one is for my Mother whom I adore and I thank for everything she has done for us.
Remember to thank your “father” whoever he may be in your life, or thank your mother for stepping up to the plate.

What should I be for Halloween?

Alright I am a pretty big fan of super heroines in comics. (And a major fan of The Avengers and X-men!!! =) )

Anyways, I always go full out with my costumes for Halloween, just because I love dressing up, showing my creativity, and having fun! =) Last year I made my own Princess Jasmine costume from scratch (look below) and this year I want to go the super hero route! =)

Ms. Kat the Cat with Princess Jasmine =)
Halloween 2011 @ the dorms

Here are the choices that I have narrowed down to. Help!

Black Widow because she is a bad A. =)

Catwoman because she rocks! =) So does Miss Halle Berry!

Storm because she controls the freakin weather! =) And Halle Berry again.

Last but not least, Spidergirl! And because I earned the nickname after a certain sunburn. lol =)

Which “Call Me Maybe” parody do you like the most?

I know I have already posted something about Call Me Maybe but I found an even better version!! =) Which one is your favorite?
